Imaging Technologists / Sonographers The competencies of all foreign educated Technologists and Therapists are evaluated by a written examination based on a nationally validated competency profile. The Canadian
Association of Medical Radiation Technology (CAMRT) has the
regulatory authority to administer the exam. The CAMRT Certification Process The Certification Exam is offered three times each year. Sonographers Foreign educated Sonographers are not required to write a Canadian Certification Exam. The eligibility for licensure in Canada is established and administered by the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) CARDUP evaluates foreign educated Sonographers on a case-by-case basis.
